This girl was handing out flyers in the aforementioned mall for I don't know what, clad in traditional (looking) clothes. She is very photogenic, actually looks prettier in the photo than in reality.

Blue Water

I never know exactly where I stand with taking photos in shops. So I either refrain (rarely) or do it on the sly, without attracting attention. What you can see here is a display of precious Australian mineral water, dipped into blue light to emphasise its value...

Don't move!

Taking HDRs of people is challenging because people have one annoying habit - they move. However, here, I was lucky, the girl was bent over some postcards and didn't change her position for the whole two seconds it took me to focus and take three successive pictures of her.

Rheinwein

This is where my trip began on Saturday, R. station. A lonely empty bottle that had contained Rheinhessen Pinot Gris was standing on the platform, slowly being filled again by the rain and reflecting on the wet ground.

My Zeil

My Zeil is a relatively new shopping mall downtown with an interesting architecture (I will post one or two more photos some time later). Inside, they are very strict and don't allow to take pictures, so I shot this one from the crowded escalator :D

The other day, I talked to a student about exhibiting photos. Spinning the idea further, I was thinking about themes, one of them being "Flusslandschaften" (rivers in landscapes). So what about this one:

Juicy sun

You can eat oranges, you can squeeze the juice out of them, you can cook marmelade from them - or you can cut a thin slice off, hang it on your window in front of a sheet of white paper and take a macro photo ;-).

What to say .. this beautiful girl is my best friend and I took the picture last March when she was six months pregnant.

Real Fake

These roses are imitated - they're handmade by me from polymer clay - but they are real as well: the petals contain dried petals from true pink (funnily, they turned yellowish when dry) and red roses that were mixed into the clay.

Up!

The small town where I come from is not particularly picturesque. However, the view of the sky is beautiful more often than not. When I was setting up my camera on the tripod to take a couple of hundred photos for another time lapse movie, I took a few test pictures and one of them is this one:

Ride my bike

Probably the world's smallest bike shed, seen and shot in Strasbourg.

PS: Again, I apologise for the poor picture quality, the problem is the same as around Christmas and I'll rectify it by Monday.

Star-Gazing

I hung up a slice of a star fruit at my window, took a picture and then did a few things to the background. The result is not exactly what I was going for but I will get there.

Scraping the sky

Frankfurt has several skyscrapers, most of them used as office buildings for banks and the like. And depending on the perspective (again!), they look even higher than normally...

The full hour

Always at the full hour after 10 p.m., thousands of little lights start flickering all over the Eiffel Tower.
I captured this spectacle with my Nikon 2200 (in pre-SLR times), without a tripod and holding my breath...

Number 1

Ewwwww

A fungus colony? No! Rotten spinach? No! Moss? No, what you can see here is a ball of Play-doh that I had needed for a jewellery project a while ago and then forgotten in a drawer. Now today while cleaning up I came across this treasure in its new appearance ;-)

Wallpaper

Sometimes you just know that a photo has poster qualities. Like me with this one, taken from the ferry to Dover (again). It's the perfective motive, the perfect mood and the perfect composition. That sounds unhumble? I know ;-)

Refraction

This is my version of a refraction picture - a little fork seen through an acrylic roller. Was too lazy to change lenses when I saw that, so I used my 18-55 mm instead of the macro lens.

What kind of jewellery could I make from this one? Produced that cane and now I'm not inspired. Maybe a charm... Do you have any wishes?

Weekend Cottage

This lovely building is indeed someone's weekend and holiday home - Queen Elizabeth's to be precise.

I turned Windsor Palace into an HDR and dedicate the photo to the friendly population of Windsor where we had afternoon tea in proper style, scones, clotted cream and tea with milk included.

The endless possibilities of a single snowflake (reloaded)

Almost exactly a year ago, I had dedicated this picture to my sis, my sister in spirit, who is a better or more advanced version of my confused, pondering libran self.

The photo was taken in pre-macro lens times, i.e. last winter, using a reverse ring and the 18-55 mm lens.

Falling water

My first attempt on waterfall photos, and after being shown one or the other trick, my pictures started to look like something.
It was definitely worth going from London to Betws-y-Coed in Northern Wales (about 400 km one way) and back on the first day of "The Big Freeze".

As tears go by

I took this picture in August after a rain shower. Just to see, I used the flash and that brought out the clarity of the raindrop pretty well while making the background of the garden disappear.

The Kite Runner

Flying kites in autumn has a tradition here as much as anywhere. I personally never did it as a child.. once later at a friend's birthday party in May. Probably the date jinxed it - we lost the kite.
