All that glitters

Since I was a young child, my parents used to call me a magpie - attracted to everything shiny. It has not gotten better with time, on the contrary, now I'm making my own shiny things. As much jewellery as I make, there is only a number of pieces that I actually wear regularly and I would like to show you some now, all made from polymer clay and something.

The electronic age

In cafés, you often see more or less original postcards to take away. The other day, I found a particularly interesting one and immediately knew to whom I was going to send it. So I did and I received a postcard - not an email - in response as well.

The morning sun shining through a leaf ... next time I'll get up a bit earlier because by 10.30, it had become surprisingly hot already!

Next step: quarter finale!

We did it again - 4:1 against England today. The next step is the quarter finale this Saturday, and however far we get, we know for certain that we are one of the world's 8 best teams!
Oh yes, this photo was taken at the Parade der Kulturen yesterday, and there is more to come.

Beautiful Things...

... come in small packages :-) This bracelet was given to me by my student at the end of the term. She remembered that I like little jewellery things, that I had admired a similar bracelet on her and noticed that blue is my favourite colour! Isn't that lovely?!

Child of the wind

Time for another photo of my lovely godchild. And while I know that there is some blur in this picture, I still posted it because I love how her jollity reflects in the expression of her face. Besides, there are very few pictures where she is really laughing, hence I am quite proud of this shot.

Roses don't have to be red to be beautiful, on the contrary - I think red roses are so clichée and importunate.

Asparagus Season

May/June is the high season for asparagus here. And while people go crazy over white asparagus (something I can't understand, this stuff being at the same time slimy and woody), all (the little) green sold here is imported. Sigh.

Mirror, mirror...

On my desk, there "live" a lot of things: my laptop, graphic tablet and printer always, my camera as a regular visitor and at the moment, there is a Wong Kar-wai DVD box sitting on the left.

Underneath (where a keyboard would slide in and out) is room for the current jewellery hype (many many little colourful beads right now) and the (half) finished products along with some make up items.

So what you can see in today's picture is a beaded glass cabochon, reflected in the package of an ayurvedic kohl kajal.

Work in progress

Every time I go to a craft store, I see a new interesting technique or when I visit my parents, my mum's got some new jewellery book and I'm immediately interested. The downside to all this is that I want to try something, I have to purchase the material and that adds up with time.
The latest thing is beaded cabochons as pendants (this will be one when it's finished), earrings, brooches ... anyone interested...?

Luminale I

This picture is the start of a new short series (a week at the most). Yesterday, Luminale 2010 ended and I grabbed the opportunity to take a lottt of pictures. I'll start by showing you the installation in front of the stock market.

Good morning starshine

Even though this is evening and another example of my experiments with street lights shot through self-made bokeh lenses, in the shape of little stars this time...

Lichtblumen

I made some "bokeh lenses" yesterday and tried them out with the lights of the night. Now I just need to work on the foreground...

Knotted

The other day, I bought one book on Celtic knots and one on Chinese knots for jewellery and now I'm starting to try them out. What you can see here are the second and third necklace I made. I quite like them and they actually look even better on a person's (my) neck.
Oh, and check out the bokeh :-)

Light Show

What you can see here is the famous (well..) Frankfurt Museumsufer at night.

Stage Light

Before the concert (which I'm going to talk about in detail tomorrow or day after), I took some test shots. One turned out to be nothing but bokeh:

Father and Son

On a sunny pre-summer day in June. It happened to be the father's birthday when the four of us - the son has a mother, too, of course - went for a walk. I'm posting this picture now because tomorrow will be the son's birthday - no wishes yet, he'll have to wait some more.

The soundtrack to the picture is almost too obvious :-)

Scarabé

That's what the manufacturer of these bugle beads calls their colour. I think it's the exact same shade as my birdy's tail.
Anyway, I took this photo using my new macro lens and of course a tripod and am very pleased with the way the bokeh turned out :-)

And oh yea, I made the necklace myself.

Bee-Day

This is the first photo I uploaded on TrekLens (That reminds me, I haven't posted anything there in ages - have I grown out of it maybe?). It was taken with my Nikon Coolpix 2200 and still is a pretty good shot. That proves once again that the most important part in photography is the photographer after all...
