Always a topic: weather

As opposed to Spain or Italy, the weather here is everchanging and so we always have a reason to complain.

It's raining:

Foggy:

Or it won't stay that nice for long:

On The Beach

If you know me, you will have heard me whine before about how far the sea is, how there is even a dearth of lakes, that it all is just not like in L. Well, on the Pentecost weekend, I accidentally discovered a lake, some 50km (30 minutes) away from my place. Won't tell you exactly where but I will show you what it looks like:

The path that is leading to the secret lake:

the local flora:

and fauna (in the form of a great crested grebe):

and the lake itself:

PS: And of course (of course!) the title carries its soundtrack within.

The other day, I caught this amazing sunset in the clouds:

Love the lovely sunset:

Italy?

Little towers on Würzburg Castle that have kind of an Italian feel to them - at least to me:

Sunset in the East

What, the sun is setting in the west? Sunrise is in the east? So what, this is still an eastern cloud, lit up by the setting sun:

The joys of getting up early

I dragged myself out of bed at 5.45 am (which surprisingly is much easier in summer when the sun gets up before you ;-) ) and looked at the sky just to check how it was doing. It was doing good:

PS: The post processing I did was contrast, lowering the colour temperature a bit (to make the sky just that tad more sky-blue) and sharpening for the net.

Heaven and Earth

I have some problems with landscape photography. Either the landscape is often boring here or it is just my inability to capture it well or you have the nicest view where you can impossibly stop to take a picture. This picture belongs into the third category - cheers to (occasional) speed limits ;-)

This is real!

How do sunsets do that, create colour gradients like this? The sky being dipped in bright blue and flaming orange - I think it's the surest sign that spring is here :-)

Up!

The small town where I come from is not particularly picturesque. However, the view of the sky is beautiful more often than not. When I was setting up my camera on the tripod to take a couple of hundred photos for another time lapse movie, I took a few test pictures and one of them is this one:

"...only fast forward"

Today's post is not one picture but 89, combined in a five-second-video. This is my first attempt at timelapse and, like I read on some site yesterday while searching for free timelapse software, once you have started, "you can never go back - only fast forward".
