This time I was actually going for taking a photo of a person's (my kind of godmother's in this case who visited me yesterday) hands and I think that the result is much better than just cutting it out of another picture (even though of course some fingers of her right hand are a bit overexposed), no matter the resolution. She picked up a beechnut and held it gracefully.

Hands V
Ok Süße, since you insisted, here is a picture of your mehendi-ed hand. I'm sorry it's such a horrible one but while I have a whole bunch of pictures where I drew on your shoulder, back and feet, this is the only hand picture I have of you. So again, apologies for the poor photo quality (I'm not even sure what to blame it on) :(

Hands I
Recently, I saw an announcement for a photo exhibition named "Hands". I found that inspiring, so maybe this'll be my week of hands :-).
The first picture in the cycle is of a Dutch guy who adds the finishing touches to a sand sculpture of the Frankfurt skyline, at the skyscraper festival two years ago.

Bee-Day
This is the first photo I uploaded on TrekLens (That reminds me, I haven't posted anything there in ages - have I grown out of it maybe?). It was taken with my Nikon Coolpix 2200 and still is a pretty good shot. That proves once again that the most important part in photography is the photographer after all...

Tiger - Me
Some people complained that there is never a photo of myself. Well, here goes ..
This is a picture from last carnival and though I can't stand organized happiness, I like painting on myself, be it with watercolours, make up or henna. And who wouldn't like to be a tiger at times ;-)

Colour the revolution*
Here is another one for the texture fan(s) (you know who you are) and for those like me who have a thing for colour. It is on the wall of an old house in the Hessenpark and I liked this detail.
*And in case this post's title vaguely reminds you of a Hindi movie - that's intentional.

Venice reloaded
Sometimes, especially at night, I really like the city I live in - even if it's not Venice. I mean, how can you not, seeing something like this. Even if is supposed to be the city with the highest crime rate in Germany (no, I'm not afraid and yes, I do go out at night).
Anyway, in this picture, I caught a few of the 21 bridges in Frankfurt, took eight photos with different exposure and merged them to the HDR you see here.
And of course this picture has a soundtrack, too ;-).

Laddoo
This is one of the sweetest dogs I know but she is extremely camera-shy. So even if she is not directly looking, it's still (definitely by her standards) a successful picture.
It's my friend's dog, Laddoo, formerly known as Sina ;-). When I fell ill at my friend's house in January, that dog stayed by my bed all night and, probably exhausted from the night watch, she decided to take a little nap in my bed during the day...

Storm in a teacup
This is a little tempest which was happening in my kettle. I cut out the best part and increased the contrast a bit to bring out the blue even more.

It's all about music
Yesterday, I have been to a Dream Theater concert and it was awesome! Why I didn't take any pictures there? Well, you can't really go to a Progressive Metal concert (with a bunch of Death Metal supporting acts), carry an SLR and still rock without restraint. But since music is the theme today, I took a picture of my guitar even though it's an acoustic one.
Oh yea, here is one of the songs they played at the concert.

... on a hot tin roof
This is another picture I took from the window of my new workplace (I should try to sneak in camera and tripod again some time). One roofed house you see in this city, probably without knowing from above, is the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, quite a nice and impressive building.

Cloud 9
Do I possibly have a cloud fetish? On my picture harddisk, there are umpteen photos of sunsets, sunrises, dark clouds, little white clouds on blue blue sky, clouds in all colours and in HDR. And I love all of them. Here is another example - on one side, there was the cloud formation you can see here and on the other, the sky was complete grey and overcast. Cheers to skylights!
And here is the soundtrack to the picture.

Visitor
I know this is not a great picture but given the fact that I don't have a macro lens yet, didn't have time to set up my tripod and was somewhat freaked out by that loudly buzzing flying insect (and by insects and the like in general), it's not that bad. A (insert name here if you can identify it) on my windowsill, going for quality ;-)

The drama queen and king of Neu-Anspach
These will be the last Hessenpark photos for a while now (got one more that I really like but I'll save that for later). Regularly, there are open air plays in the museum, set in the late 19th century, with peasants, a bailiff and the village's schoolmaster.

(Fruit of) The Loom
One of the old handicrafts they demonstrate in the Hessenpark is that of a weaver, so here are two close up views of wooden looms:

The goat and the coat
Today I was in the famous Hessenpark, a place where old houses from the area are "collected" and exhibited, together with old handicrafts, traditional viniculture, agriculture and farming. One specimen of that farming is the goat you see here. It's colleague was unusually tame and allowed me to pet it. And only after a while I realised that it was chewing on my yellow coat (mistook it for straw maybe) :|

Veggie delight
It's quite simple to make sushi yourself (the vegetarian kind that I made/make) and not difficult to take a photo of it either. Sushi somehow always looks nice on pictures - as opposed to chocolate :|

Like Ice In The Sunshine...
This is another picture of my "Splash"-series where 11 pictures of originally 140 and two hours work were keepers. I quite like this one, too but want to point out that it was my first attempt in the matter.

Bankfurt
From my new workplace, I have a great view and every other day, I see a wonderful sunrise. However, my class starts at 8 and before, it's still too dark, afterwards, the sun is completely up already. The ideal time to capture the sunrise view would be around 8.30-8.45, in other words: it's impossible. I didn't want to have taken my camera in vain, so I took a few photos anyway.
I am aware that the skyscraper is heavily tilted and that the sky is rather grainy but here, I used both as a stylistic device and don't perceive it as a disturbance.

Highway to .. sunset
Have you ever noticed that the most beautiful photo motives can be seen from places where it is impossible to stop? Middle of the Autobahn A5 for example. So the manoeuvre of taking this photo while driving was somewhat risky (am I not such a responsible driver after all?) but in my opinion worth it..

Erfurt for everyone
This is an impression from my "native" state capital, Erfurt. Nope, I'm not from Frankfurt, not even from the state of Hessen at all but from the "Free State of Thuringia" and I prefer Erfurt to Wiesbaden anyday.

Oud en nieuw*
Today I'm presenting you a photo from my annual mum-and-I-vacation which took us on a Belgium tour in May/June. This picture was taken from the beach in Oostende because I liked the contrast of old and new (that's the title of this blog, too, btw). I know it is a little dark but not using my own computer, I don't have the software to brighten or sharpen it - sorry.
