Touching up the cruise

Even cruise ships need a makeover at times - done by a woman while three men were standing around watching...

Piece o' cake

I do not only make jewellery but sometimes when inspiration hits me, miniature food as well. This one is a mini Frankfurter Kranz, a local delicacy from this area.

Fairground Memories

I have been to the IAA today since my dad is visiting and he is really into cars, especially old ones. The last photo I took shows the Messeturm (fair tower), also called "pencil" by the locals.

PS: Coming tomorrow (if I find the time) - IAA inside part 1.

Lighthouse

I'm sure this flower with its vibrant colours is as attractive and visible for insects as a lighthouse is for ships...

Baby You Can Drive My Car

Every June, the so called Oldtimer Schlosstreffen takes place in the small Thuringian town I am from, for the 12th time this year. It is a three-day-event which gathers classic cars and motorbikes and their admirers from all of Germany and part of Europe. And this picture partially shows one of the famous Apollo cars, the "Mobbel", built in Apolda itself, by the company Ruppe & Son in 1910.

PS: Notice anything? Yes, I moved the sign a little..

"You bore me"

Heidi spent four days with me and brought about as much luggage as I take on a two weeks vacation. She was a puppy back then, super energetic but at some point, I got even her tired.

Flower Child

Alright, it's time for a "human photo" again. The flower child you see here is Alisa, my godchild, my sweetheart, my beloved little indigo girl.

Driving home

That's all I need to drive home on a summer evening: music, sunglasses, taffy...

Tchaïka*

These pictures of a seagull may not look much. They were two of those accidental pictures from last year when I had had the new camera for just about two months and wasn't even close to figuring out all the functions. So I mainly used the automatic mode which - as it was an overcast sky - must have chosen a wide aperture so that the depth of field is narrow and there is a really nice bokeh (the background is blurred out completely).

*Btw, tchaïka is the Russian word for seagull and I think it suits them most.

After the rain

I don't like rains, I never go out to get drenched. When it's raining, I hide inside or under umbrella and hood if I have to go out. Give me sun anyday.

But the one nice thing about rain is that plants gather droplets on their leaves, petals, stems... like little round diamonds.

Texture Study

Two textures in one picture, I hope you like them. I know I do. So the evening spent trying to buy shoes wasn't totally wasted as I bought these, loved the colour (matches my saree.. yes, I have a saree) and they were so cheap that it doesn't matter if they fall apart after being worn for just one day. Oh yes, and the small picture shows the totally insensible, unreasonable and probably uncomfortable shoes ;-)

From dusk to...

I took this picture almost a year ago in Mannheim. That was at a time when I didn't have a tripod with a bag yet and hence was too lazy to carry my tripod with me. You can see that clearly from the slight (ok, not so slight) blur. Nevertheless I upload this photo because I find the section interesting that is visible through the hole in the stone.

Guess the city

The title says it all .. view from the mountains.

All Along The Watchtower

This is a telecommunication tower on the highest point of the nearby mountains, the Feldberg, so I'm guessing that the reception is pretty good ;-)

Youngest Rockstar

After some talks we had this weekend, I was able to convince my little godchild-to-be that a career as a drummer is desirable. He has the feeling for rhythm that it takes (proven when we sang and clapped We Will Rock You together) as well as the coolness a future Tommy Lee (Mike Portnoy, Larry Mullen Junior or Roger Taylor) requires. Oh yea, and the fact that you can see his whole family reflected in the sunglasses is incidental but welcome.

Stairway To Heaven (or so)

When I was driving home from work on Thursday, I was mentally kicking myself for not having taken my camera with me - the sky so blue with such interesting cloud formations, the landscape so beautiful, the mountains so clear... As soon as I arrived back home, I grabbed my camera and ran out to the place near my house where I somewhat have a view at the mountains, hoping to capture the beauty but no, the pictures I could take were mediocre. Disappointed, I walked back home a different way when I came across this fire escape (at least that's what I think it is). Took a bunch of photos there and merged three of them into an HDR:

PS: To the new followers of my blog - welcome guys :-) And to everyone: please leave a comment if you like.

Windmill Country

I took this picture in May when my friends and I visited the famous Keukenhof in the Netherlands, a flower park that is open for a few weeks in spring only. There are flowers over flowers, mainly tulips in all possible shapes (really!) and colours. But of course the other Holland clichés as well - wooden shoes, canals and windmills. Why I'm posting this photo now? Because I am spending the weekend with these friends and it just had to be something I experienced with them.

The mother and child reunion

This photo was taken late at night at my friend's birthday party. She celebrated into the big day and so all of a sudden, it was 3 a m. Mother and child (my friend's sister and her youngest one) were drifting into a peaceful slumber...

And here is the soundtrack to the picture.

Amber Sun

At some point, I will have a third blog, showing the jewellery I make and selling it. The time is not quite ripe yet, so I will post something here: a ring I made with silver plated wire and amber. I love amber, I think it is solid sun :-). And I like the bokeh in this picture.

Tangerine Sunshine

Don't you know the situation: you see something and just have to take a photo? It's like me and this sunset - I went to get something from the kitchen and almost accidentally glanced at the sky through the window. As opposed to what the more or less 'usual' summer sunsets looked like, tonight, the sky was dipped in pure orange, surrounded by a rim of purplish blue:

Tiger Lily

My parents' neighbours have new cats, kittens actually, Tiger and Lily (Tiger Lily for me .. anyone a Michael Hutchence fan here?). These little ones are extremely curious and extended their territory beyond their own and to the gardens left and right.
Oh well, visit my parents' terrace and look cute, you won't escape my camera when I happen to be there... Tiger for you:
