I was thinking whether or not I should somehow contribute to the movie, picturing life on the 24 July but then I don't have a video camera and I think time lapse films are not permitted. So my contribution is a photo:
R., my student, came in this morning with a little bouquet of cornflowers in a glass of water. "My contribution to improving the world", she said which referred to our conversation on Tuesday. "Beautiful", I said. "Perfect for decorating the classroom." "They are to take with you..." And so I did:
Finally a really good insect picture and I noticed too late that my camera was still set on black and white (had been taken application photos before but that's a whole other story). Anyway, I ended up liking it, especially for its sharpness and so here it is:
I'm quite proud of this shot as I caught the exact moment at the Parade der Kulturen when these two players of the Frankfurt Football Club jumped for the ball:
This little guy is an Old-Opera-bunny, not to be confused with the ECBunnies we met before. The opera bunnies are a little bigger, more cultured and outgoing ;-)
Oh and I noticed only now how the morning sun is shining through his (her?) ear, making it look almost transparent.
There was a whole bush of these flowers, some were a powdery blue with a pink rim, some pink with a purple rim and some greenish with a blue rim. I picked this one (not literally):
I dragged myself out of bed at 5.45 am (which surprisingly is much easier in summer when the sun gets up before you ;-) ) and looked at the sky just to check how it was doing. It was doing good:
PS: The post processing I did was contrast, lowering the colour temperature a bit (to make the sky just that tad more sky-blue) and sharpening for the net.
With this feathered young man from Ecuador, the parade ends for now. I still have a bunch of photos I haven't shown you yet so I might upload them some time later.
I took so many pictures at that parade, quite a few of which turned out alright, so I decided to make the planned week 10 days instead. Indonesia alone is so amazingly colourful that I felt the need to upload 3 photos.
With the sun, the warmth and the beautiful women, it just felt a little more Brazilian. There were so many pretty girls and women from all over the world in this parade! And here's a question: Why do women have no problem pointing out that another girl is pretty while you would never hear a (straight) guy say: 'Wow, look at him, he's handsome!'?
PS: The post processing I did was blurring the background (stupid photographers in the way everywhere ;-) ), increasing contrast a little and sharpening.
